SPECIAL EVENTS

Well, we finally did IT, after ten wonderful years, we have moved our shop location to a different address. We are still in Oberlin, Ohio, however not in beautiful downtown.

Our new location is less than two miles from the old, at 45089 East Hamilton Street(Road),Oberlin, Ohio.

Pictures are to follow soon.

You ask why?

COST of operation is the answer. The cost on so many of the items just kept on raising and we soon would be forced to raise our prices. We did not want to do that, hence the move.

The shop appears smaller but in reality not by that much. Oh yes the area is smaller, we have 90% of the same merchandise but are just displaying it differently so we do not need as much space. Granted some items are not going to be carried for awhile (like Manic Panic wigs, and what a bargain they were) , but if you insist, we will bring them back.

Lest we forget, we also have new shop hours. We are only open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, but with longer hours, from 11AM to 7PM.

Even though we are not downtown, we still hope to continue are volunteering in many of the Oberlin College and civic groups.

At the moment we are still setting things up, waiting for stock to be delivered and in general trying to get our act together.

Any regrets-----a few! The sounds of the students on the main street, talking, laughing, singing and their visits. Oberlin College students bring a vitality to the community, and we shall miss our daily dose.

And my windows-----where will we put our yearly Kristallnacht display. We’ll just have to use one of the windows in our viewing room.

OBERLIN COLLEGE NORML - This past year a chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws was still active at Oberlin College. SbySC has been proud to volunteer time, services and whatever was asked of them through out the past 15 years. Please check out www.cannibisnow.org .

DRAG BALL
Through the years, SbySC has supported this most widely attended annual event on the Oberlin College campus. SbySC has not only helped individuals with their costumes but has also been in on the ground floor of the event by doing committee work, ticket sales, set up and the dreaded clean up after the "ball". This was the 12th year that SbySC has volunteered it's time to the OC "Drag Ball".

The event was held in April and a more raucous or rowdy crowd couldn't be found anywhere. Debauchery ran rabid.

AIDS Memorial Quilt
The Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt was supported by Stitch by Stitch & Curiosities when over 1000 panels where displayed at Oberlin College in December 1996. P. A. Haumann of SbySC served as new panel chair. In this position SbySC held seminars helping friends and loved ones of AIDS victims make panels. Information and assistance on panel making are still available at SbySC.bySC
